Laborers perform a wide variety of maintenance service, repair, and minor construction functions to streets, bridges, public buildings, infrastructure, vehicles and equipment in Muhlenberg Township.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Repair streets, pot holes, cracks, bumps and sink Clean, maintain and repair storm sewer systems- inlets, culverts, swales and pipes Load and haul debris, snow and materials Install storm sewer systems including:
excavate trenches for pipe and inlets, install pipe, inlets and culverts; properly backfill and restore trenches Operate composting equipment at compost site Paint curbs and traffic lines Construct and fabricate structural features as required Carpentry, electrical and plumbing, painting, masonry and concrete work Set up work zone traffic control signs and direct traffic through and/or around construction sites Erect, repair and replace signs and guide rails Requirements:
Experience working with concrete, ADA concrete work is helpful.
Knowledge of light, medium and heavy operating procedures Thorough knowledge of construction, maintenance and repair practices and procedures for streets, storm water systems, buildings, grounds and traffic signs.
Experience operating manual and power tools Ability to lift heavy objects of up to 50lbs and occasional lifting over 50lbs Ability to perform physical labor, manual tasks or operate equipment for extended periods of time Ability to work in adverse outdoor weather conditions Ability to work overtime as needed Preferably has a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class B or able to obtain a CDL within 6 months from accepting employment is required Heavy equipment operator experience is a plus This is a union position.
Starting Rate:
$21.
76 increasing to $27.
21 per hour after probationary period.
